I have had this conversation with countless people, countless times.
There are several people who are far-off from reality, not because they’re stupid or don’t know any better but because they like to believe in unrealistic scenarios, which turns into their expectations from life. I am a girl, so I can speak on behalf of girls. Some girls have a representation in their mind about their future. Assuming it’s going to be like a (along the lines of) fairytale, and that they are going to be successful, and have amazing friends who they will take world tours with and spend hot summers with and trust each other with their lives with, and be married to the most handsome, caring, loving, smartest man for them who will treat her like a queen who sparkles. For some people, it works out that way and that’s great. But most of the times, that’s not how life goes, there are struggles and hardships with almost everything you do. Nothing comes easy and it’s good to remember that
It’s not to say that we shouldn’t have expectations. Low expectations don’t take people very far either. Some people really do work hard and deserve the best, but it’s good to have a reality check and know where you stand in life. Look at yourself, your personality, your beliefs, culture, religion, family. Breaking away from all that isn’t always a negative thing, especially if it’s going towards a better change but it will most likely never be easy. I’ve found that when I have realistic hopes, they are easy to live with and the situation it self feels reassuring. It’s good to desire the better, but when we’re aware of the reality of it, it leaves us feeling content weather it happens or not.
Some hopes are unrealistic and the only person you’re fooling is your self. If I was to go on and on about this topic, I would but I would only be repeating my message several times just in different words. Haha!
